  1. A little while ago i became a design team member of 'Where the HeART is' Challenge Blog

The first challenge i was set rePhotoGrid_1439462840670quired me to use a butterfly image and create a mixed media piece that included some text. The wording that was advised was 'Be Free'

I have to admit, when i first received the image i was a little over whelmed. It looked more like an image i would use to print in A4 and colour than put with my mixed media creations. I didn't let my first thoughts stop me though, i gave myself time with the image and explored different ways of using it.

I decided to create a journal cover / diary cover and once finished i decided to add complementory strands that work well as book marks.

There are certainly things i would change if i was to do it again, for example i would use lighter blue tissue paper in the centre next to the butterfly and then add the darker shades as it got further out towards the edges.

Overall i'm happy with the final piece. I liked using the 3D paint pen (glass paint pen) as it enhanced the detail from the stamp that was hiding under the tissue paper.

    Supplies list:

  2. Experimenting with new dies. PhotoGrid_1441110561368

I recently received a copy of Die-cutting essentials which came with a wonderful die set. I also purchased a new set of nesting dies from the X Cut range so of course i set to work experimenting. (the rounded flower die was a free die from another magazine that i have previously blogged about and is now a core favourite!)

The posy of flowers die had stems but i chose to cut them off so that they would fit onto one of these little 3 x 3 cards that i'm currently using. As the cards are so small i'm trying to keep the designs CAS.

I was very impressed with both the free die and the nesting dies they both cut really well.

I decided to get my xmas scrap box out again and found some pretty little 3D die cut images, i'm not sure if i brought these like this or cut them off of a card but today they called out to be me to be used!

I wanted to keep the card CAS so i used a basic white tall card and added just a few gems and a sentiment to the centre. On the top bauble i added a silver charm and gem which i think gives it just the touch it needed.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

  4. Up-Cycling JarsPhotoGrid_1440683546414

I am currently working on a project creating a selection of tutorials on up-cycling jars. I hope to when i'm finished share the full set of tutorials with you all here on the website.

I thought i would share with you all for now a sneak peak at some of the jars i have been working on.

The top left hand jar has been created using decopatch papers and gems

The right hand jar has been decorated with glitterations peel offs and glitter dot peel offs.

The bottom left hand mini jar is my favourite. I used silicone glue that created a frosting effect and applied gems i even managed to get a rainbow effect pattern as i found the right number of coloured gems!

Do you re-cycle your jars? If you do what do you do with them?
