Today we'd like to introduce the lovely Becca, and we can't wait for you to see the projects she has made for us.

Honeycomb Card Tutorial

Hi!  I’m Becca and I’m part of the IDC design team. This is the first design team I’ve ever been on and I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far!

The first two stamp sets I got my hands on to play with were the “Shape Your World” and “Block Sentiments”. I immediately saw so many things I could do with them both, but my favourite end result by far was the bee and the honeycomb sample.

It’s a very quick and easy card to do. I started off by stamping the solid hexagon shape with Spiced Marmalade distress ink a few times to form a pattern like this:

 1

Then I used the moonlight Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen from the Spring / Summer set to fill in the gaps between the honeycombs. I also added a couple of flicks to give the design a bit of an edgy look.

2

Using the small circle outline stamp, I stamped it three times to create the body of the bee. I then used a micron pen to fill in the black and add in the details of the wings and antenna. I then used the same moonlight Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen to add the yellow colour.

Using the dots stamp from “Block Sentiments,” I created a little trail from the bee.

 4

And using the same dots stamp, I inked up the very edge of it to add the three dot detail in the corner.

5

To finish, I stamped the ‘Just For You’ stamp from “Block Sentiments,” and mat and layered it with orange, black and white card to make the colours pop.

Thank you for popping by today, happy crafting!
