Ombre Butterfly - Imagine Design Create Stamp Designs
Posted on
Hi again …. I actually tried a new technique myself on this card ….and I really liked it so I decided to share it with you….
Firstly I got a 13cm x 13cm piece of white card stock. Then once I had chosen my three colours (Cracked Pistachio, Abandoned Coral & Mermaid Lagoon) distress inks using a water brush I splashed across the card in all three colours. Then I dabbed with a piece of kitchen towel to remove any excess moisture. I like to try and keep the water brush as dry as is possible so the splashes have a more intense colour.
I then took the fabulous new Mini Butterfly Blot stamp set by Imagine Design Create and stamped up the two largest butterflies in all three colours. I was careful to make sure the stamp was covered but not overlapping the colours too much to prevent bleeding. I then stamped them onto the card. For the smaller butterflies I used only one colour and randomly stamped around the larger butterflies.
Then using the Mermaid Lagoon distress ink pad I blended around the edge of the card to bring the colours together and give the card a finished look.
To finish off, using Versafine Black Onyx, I stamped the “until you spread your wings” sentiment that comes in the same set in the bottom corner and then using a finer line black pen I added a freehand border.
I then popped it onto a 6” x 6” card blank with foam pads for a bit of dimension.
I really like the finished effect and will definitely be experimenting with different colour combinations.
See you again soon
Kerry x
