Hi

It’s been a wee while since I did blog due to the French flu.  It really took it out of me.

Tickled pink to do a card again but with inspiration from Kerri-Ann’s new stamps Melody Mermaid it was so easy

How To

Take an 8”x8” card and using a piece of cut and dry, run a border of Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the card.  You do not need to do all the front of the card as it won’t be seen.

Cut by hand the Deep Sea Dive paper. It really does not cut well with a paper trimmer.  Make it appro 1 cm smaller than your main card.  Fix with sticky pads.   ( gutted mine as it was a gorgeous paper – do stick plenty of pads over the hole to support it if you do the same )

Next cut the Powder Blue Lace Card, again approx. 1 cm smaller than the Deep Sea Paper to provide matt and layers.  Affix with sticky pads

Now take your Melody Mermaid stamps and stamp Melody using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.  The sentiment Mermaid Kisses and Starfish Wishes in Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide.  Your shells and starfish and stamped in Fossilized Amber.

On to Fun in the Sun stamps.  The lovely cheery sun is in Fossilized Amber and the Palm Tree is stamped in Heritage Green.

Colouring Melody Mermaid -  I shaded her flesh very lightly with the Pale Pink and highlighted her cheeks with a wee bit more pressure.  The baubles around her neck, shell bra and top of her tail (belly end) were all coloured in turquoise which gave a subtle change when the glitter was applied.  Her hair used the gold with whispy bits of darker gold.

Next I blended the colours with Dorso oil.  The glorious orange oil smell makes it a favourite for blending.

Palm Tree colouring – The coconuts and trunk were done in brown and branches in green.  Very simple colouring followed by more Dorso oil blending.

Now to cut all the pieces out and assemble on your card.

The wording has a wee matt and layer with left over water colour card and covered in Salty Ocean Distress Ink

This card would be lovely as a wee greeting or get well soon card

Enjoy.  See you soon
