Hello again everyone, this week I’ve have been using the Diamond and Argyle stencil and stamp set designed by Claire Newcombe for Imagine Design Create.

I enjoy working with these stamps as they work lovely in mixed media projects. I’m sharing two cards I have made recently using the Diamond Pattern stencil and Argyle stamp, the second card I’m sharing today is a mop up page from the first!

Materials used

  • White heavy smooth card stock (one cut 15 x 15 cm and one 10.5 x 15 cm)

  • Black card

  • 7x7 and 5x7 white card blanks

Method

  1. To create the Distress oxide background for this card I used the smooshing technique, where I started by swiping my lightest colour oxide on my craft mat and spraying with a little water, then with the larger of the two pre-cut heavy white card stock I “smooshed” this through the wet oxide ink until I was happy with how it looked. Before repeating this process with the rest of my oxides I mopped up the left over colour with the smaller pre-cut card, resulting in two lovely backgrounds to work with and very little ink wasted.

  1. Once the backgrounds dried I stamped over them with Imagine Design Create’s Argyle stamp and Seedless Preserves distress oxide.

  1. I used Broken China distress oxide through Imagine Design Create’s Diamond Pattern stencil and highlighted some of these with a white gel pen.

  1.  Using the same Diamond Pattern stencil but applying texture paste with a pallet knife in a random pattern, while the texture paste is still wet I sprinkled gold embossing powder over the top, knocking off the excess and heat setting this with my heat tool. This give you some great texture and one of my favourite techniques to use while crafting.

  1. I edged my background with Black Soot distress oxide and matted this onto black card leaving a small border and then onto my card blank. I stamped the happy birthday sentiment from Imagine Design Create’s Block Sentiments stamp set in onyx black ink onto white card, cutting this out while leaving a white border, I used 3d sticky pads to add this to my card.

  1. For the “mop up” background I used Imagine Design Create’s Creative Quotes stamp set.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards today and feel inspired to get creative yourself. Take care and I’ll see you again next week. Eli x
