Alphabet Stencil Art Journal Blog
Posted on
Hello, its Eli here again today and I’m sharing a art journal page I have created using stamps and stencils by Imagine Design Create.
The process of art journaling should be fun and relaxing, and to be honest most of the time I’m not sure what the end result will be, I just enjoy losing myself in the process. I always start by gathering my favourite stencils, stamps and colours of acrylic paint, and give my page a coat of white gesso.

I chose a few shades of pink and purple acrylic paint for my base layers, adding either small drops on the page or from a pallet and spreading the colours around using my fingers, I then dried this with my heat tool before moving on to my next layer.
I started this layer by adding a little white gesso over any areas that I thought might be too dark before moving on with some contrasting colours, in this case blues. I applied the paint in this layer using my fingers again and filling in any gaps I see and covering any bits I don’t like. I forgot to take a picture of this layer before moving onto my stencils oops, but you can see what I have done here.
My next layer is made up of stencilling, I picked two colours I have previously used (pink and turquoise) and a white acrylic paint. I think white is a great tool to use, not only for toning any colours down but it helps to bring them all together too.
This layer is for stamping, I used the four single hearts and the grungy heart from the Heart mix stamp set and archival ink in complementary colours. Make sure you heat set the ink before moving on to the next step.
Using my white gel pen I doodled over my stencilled shapes to make them pop more from the page.
I used a pencil and ruler to mark out where I wanted my lettering to be and stencilled with black acrylic paint each word backwards to ensure they finished where I wanted them to. I then dried this with my heat tool before drawing the white dots on with my gel pen.
I hope you have enjoyed my blog today, I am looking forward to sharing with you all again next week. Eli x
