Stamping & Stencilling ...Melody Mermaid Bookmark and Place Mat

Posted on

Hello Eli here again, Today I wanted to share a bookmark and place mat I have made using Imagine Design Create’s Melody Mermaid stamp set and my laminator machine.

Bookmarks are something I’ve made with my 6-year-old son as he loves reading so I thought this would be a great project for my Melody Mermaid stamp set, the placemat idea came to me while I was laminating the bookmark.

I have used Distress ink for the backgrounds of both projects, using the blending technique for the bookmark and smooshing technique for the placemat onto good quality white card stock.

I have stamped and stencilled the seaweed, fish, shells and the name Melody using Distress oxides then doodled over the top once dry with my white gel pen.

placemat 2

I stamped Melody mermaid on to a scrap piece of white card stock using my versafine onyx black ink and coloured her using my zig clean colour pens, I added a touch of sparkle to her with stickles and a sparkle pen. I then glued her to each project, allowing plenty of drying time before I laminate.

I made the tassel for the bookmark from embroidery thread in coordinating colours.

On the back of the placemat I decided to stamp Melody and trace around a few of the shapes so that once its laminated a child can colour them in with felt tip pens and it can be wiped clean to colour again.

Once I was happy with both projects I laminated them both, sending them through a few times to make sure all edges were sealed well.
